The use of the word "said" as an adjective represents common english usage. It is not physics jargon. It means "just-mentioned."

As an example, consider the following pair of sentences:

A suspect was observed to be running northward from the scene of the crime. A police officer apprehended said suspect at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Main Street.

The word "said", preceeding the word "suspect", makes it clear that the suspect that the police officer apprehended at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Main Street is the one that was just mentioned in the preceeding sentence. The writer used the word "said" rather than the word "the" because she or he wanted to make it clear that the subject of the sentence was the suspect that was written about in the preceeding sentence, rather than some other suspect.
